ALERT: Windows XP SP2 & Vista W/O SP End of Support
Important Alert: End of support for Windows XP with Service Pack (SP2) and Windows Vista without service packs - Windows Help & How-to - Support is ending for some versions of Windows
* Support for Windows Vista without any service packs ended on April 13, 2010.
* Support for Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (SP2) will end on July 13, 2010.*
If you're running one of these versions after support ends, you won't get security updates for Windows.
Still NO MANDATORY reason for upgrading to Windows 7. Just download and install either Windows XP Service Pack (SP) 3 or SP3 OR Windows Vista SP2 (which includes SP1), preferably after a complete backup (an image backup is most ideal) from either of the following Microsoft links:
XP SP3:
Vista SP2:
